It is worth noticing the inspiring recent effort from the CS community organizing their faculty and research areas. Using crowdsourcing, and the help of many anonymous users from the community, a dataset of 2200 faculty in 50 top US Computer Science Graduate Programs has been implemented. One can observe there some hiring trends, educational background and some insights about the composition of CS departments in these schools. Also, here is a supplementary analysis of this data so far.
